Mark Abbot Consulting Ltd was established to provide Strategic Management and Marketing services
mainly for Small to Medium Enterprises (SME), but also to larger companies,
in New Zealand and off-shore.
Our client partners and associations are
those businesses and organisations that are enterprising and innovative
both in their internal and external relationships.
Our business philosophy revolves around the belief that most organisations
perform adequately, but rarely to their full potential. This resulting
gap is often related to one
of the following:
- Being so close to the business. The day-to-day issues often
distract from the future prospects. The business itself becomes
so consuming that the options for the future, let alone the future
itself, are often not considered.
- A limitation of resource. It is unusual for
organisations to carry an executive resource on the chance it
might be needed. Seldom is such a strategic resource required on
a full-time basis anyway, with the most benefit from this function
gained from periodic and objective review, bringing business and
market perspectives from a diverse set of external experiences to
complement the internal capabilities.
- A fundamental lack of understanding as to what strategy
is all about. Rather than anticipating the future and building
the business around its competitive advantages the approach is all
too often reactionary.
